Americans right to be worried about the content in Anime?

I’ve seen a lot of pervy stuff from the minds of Japanese anime and manga creators. Big eyed, big boobed girls dressed as Maids, Nurses and Cat girls. But is this stuff really as perverted as a typical American might make out? Perhaps! But I think you’ve gotta be pretty dumb to think it’s gonna turn you, your boyfriend, husband or your kids into some raging sexual predator or turn girls into degrading maid-uniform wearing hoes!

Just because it's hot, I saw this cool bleach swimsuit babes artwork. 5 Star!

Anime Angels

I have no idea what these characters are from. Any guesses? Probably some obscure Japanese video game? But would like to know- I've had these images stored away on my hard disk (along with several others) for ages and never knew where they came from.

Attaching wings to anime characters or video game characters has been all the rage for years with manga style artists on sites like Devianart. I can appreciate it and it looks cool, but it does seem a little over done? I wonder why..? But these designs look great and have a kind of medieval/sci-fi theme to them.

Anime School Girl with Pigtails Mouse Mat

The Japanese school girl is probably the most common of all anime and manga characters ever to grace our screens. I think for a lot of westerners, they see the sailor-like uniform and immediately think "anime" before they would think "Japanese" as the school outfit and anime pretty much go hand in hand. I wonder what percentage of anime features school kids? Probably 70%+ perhaps? If you wanted to indulge in a constant reminder of schoolgirl fan service, you can always buy yourself a mouse pad:

Anime Schoolgirl Mouse Mat

I currently use a boring, plain black mouse mat so something like this would certainly liven up my desk!

Cyber Police Girl Speck Case for Ipad

Urban explosions + Shirow style cyborg police girl = ideal gift for cyberpunk anime geeks like myself! Or for video game fans- having just played Deus EX 3 myself, this is the kind of artwork I appreciate! Not everyone has an ipad, but for those that do, the cases you can get for them are pretty awesome. Check out cases on Zazzle and Cafe Press- the quality of these is great and there's some top quality designs to be had, like with this one!

Cyborg anime girl Ipad case

There's also a lot of not-so-great products on these kinda of sites, so be prepared to do penty of shifting through pages and pages of content until you find something you like. Best thing to do is ask a friend to refer you to products you might like, or check out picks via blog entries like this one. Happy shopping Ipad owners!

Halloween Anime Witch Postcard

With Halloween right around the corner (...well, in October), you might want to send someone an anime themed postcard:

Halloween Anime Witch Postcard

The artwork is a little different to your typical Cel-like, animation-esque style with smooth airbrushed colouring which looks pretty effective! I guess if you like your anime babes, you're into goth cosplay and have a love for heels, or indeed know someone that does, this would make a great little gift!
I wonder if people send many halloween themed post cards in October? If anything it makes a change from the typical sunny beach and palm trees, which I'm sure we're all sick of, right? :D

Where can I purchase anime girl items?

I found that among many of the Zazzle products catered for anime and manga girls- Organic Metal: 'Cool art for teens' has a cool selection of cool digital artwork worth checking out. Sometimes it's hard to find products which aren't just generic imitations created by people who are trying to cash in on the 'anime craze', but these are great quality, fantastic products, hence the recommendation :)

Adsense Removed

Not sure 100% why Google decided this blog was no longer fit for adsense? Sure it's got some sexy artwork on it, but there's no x-rated hentai or pornographic content *shrugs* The worst thing is probably a pic of an anime girl's panties showing, although isn't that just typical Japanese fan service that most anime fans have grown to accept? Perhaps I've simply become desensitized to it all? Lol.

In that case, this is my reply:

My Boobs Are OK! Big Boob Anime Clips and Drawings

Wobble Wobble Bounce Bounce! Spotted an nice anime girl boob vid today, so thought I’d post it up. Some fine specimens in this one if I do say so myself. I gotta hand it to the Japanese- they know what they’re doing when it comes to showing off a pair of hot anime girl boobs!

Any idea what animes these clips or drawings are from?

Is it just me or is Youtube pretty much full of potty-mouth kids that think they know everything? Either that, or the give the impression they know nothing. Most the time it’s the comments on these videos that make me laugh more than the video itself. These people dont hold back! Some of the comments on this one included:

Article on Manga and Hentai: People’s views

This is an article recently found by a fellow Blogger that wishes to remain anon. Perhaps he’s just trying to justify being pervy? Although realistically, I have to agree with some of his points about the western world looking down on sexy material, but looking up to real life sexual acts.

The original poster of this article does not condone sexual acts of anyone person under the legal age nor does the poster condone anyone under the legal age to view adult related materials. This is simply a commentary on others and personal views towards hentai or pornographic materials.

~~~
Went into college today, did some drawing and brought in some manga reference material. Half the class came over to flick through some of the manga stuff I’d brought in and kept commenting on how ‘dirty’ it was and stuff. I’m thinking “SERIOUSLY?!” It’s like the first time they’d ever seen a panty shot and thought it was so weird! I got the impression several people thought I was a pervert for owning these books. Again, I’m thinking “WHAT, REALLY?!” They should see some of the hardcore shit I’ve got at home, or just see the quantity of this kinda stuff I own- THEN they might have grounds for thinking I’m a bit pervy, which I guess is fair enough. But f*ck me- you’ve got critics like my class-mate Jane that were f***ing at 15, yet no one calls her a pervert!
At the end of the day, Sure, I like the pervy stuff, it’s cute, sexy, fun and beautiful girls and artwork is just great eye candy. I don’t give a s#!t what anyone else things. BUT I do get annoyed how seemingly narrow-minded some of these kids from college can be.
“OH MY GOD- LOOK AT THIS- She’s got her tits out!!!” – I’m like, “so???” Seems weird that you’re socially “allowed to f***, but you’re not allowed to look”- It would seem f***ing is fine, but looking at pics of girls or porn makes you a pervert in the eyes of a lot of people. What is this shit all about?! Maybe I just take my pervy tendencies for granted or have been desensitized to all this suggestive or sexual manga stuff, but for me it’s totally no big deal and I can’t comprehend why other people think it’s so bad to look at it, yet not bad to go out and f***!!
I know that there’s A LOT worse stuff in Japan, which is drawn BY girls, and often FOR girls, or is easily accessible to kids, YET is this “Pervy material” really so bad?? At the end of the day- Japan is full to the hilt with readily accessible hentai, Lolita porn, tentacle rape sex and worse, BUT crime rates and sexual crime rates in Japan are the lowest in the world. Statistically, a society that embraces this so called ‘pervy art culture’ seems to be a lot better off than cultures that view porn as bad but actual f***ing as acceptable!
I loved it when Shaun got out his hardcore anime sex scene movies at college- that shut em up. I was just thinking- Cool, this is pretty good s#!t. Hot girls, good animation, cool style, nice eye candy and a little arousing too- it’s all good stuff... Yet everyone else laughs and comments “OH MY GOD”. Again, in almost disbelief, I just sit there thinking, what’s the big deal? Some of these kids have had a lot of real sex, mixed it up in the bedroom and stuff, but still seem shocked when viewing this kinda material. I dunno if I’ll ever understand. I guess I’m just used to it and will have to put up with people thinking I’m “a pervert and bad for being a pervert” just ‘cos that’s the kinda society and environment people have been raised in.
For the Japanese, or someone heavily influenced by that culture a, or anyone with a liberated mind or anyone that has knowledgeable about the facts, there’s not really anything wrong with it.
By me defending it, I would be seen to just be a ridiculous, sad pervert standing up for my own sick, twisted views and fantasies!
BUT if one is to you step outside their own culture and preconceived opinions or morals they will probably discover that an adult into hentai (for perverted, artistic or other reasons) for example isn’t doing anyone any harm and in fact is can be seen as good by;
• Promoting creativity- it is undeniable an art form
• Limiting real life porn/ abuse to real girls who feel they need to degrade themselves for a quick buck.
• Reducing sexual abuse in the real world by keeping fantasies limited to artwork and paper etc.
Lol. My argument makes the opposing views almost laughable! People however, could say:
“any form of sexual representation can influence the minds of others and put ideas in people’s heads”
- It’s true that hentai for example will influence people, but people simply don’t watch a movie of a girl being raped, then become rapists! That would be F***ING STUPID to think that!.. I guess, of course, unless they’re some stupid, simple-minded American, who would probably do it anyway- or worse for living in a society that forced him to repress is urges.
“It’s not right to portray girls as sex objects”
- It’s human nature for god sake! Dont gimme some PC crap about sex being for older husbands and wife’s only! You can’t deny kids have hormones and are sexually active. Girls become fertile from the ages of like 11-15- you know why? SO THEY CAN F*** AND HAVE BABIES! They aren’t meant to wait ‘till they’re in their mid 20s or whatever. Again, it’s human nature for guys to like younger girls as they are biologically more fertile and in their prime. You can use morals or personal preference to justify only liking older women, but if you forget social acceptance or cultural rules, get back to basics and see people for what they were intended to be, you can’t deny girls jobs are to look pretty, get a mate and be looked after, while guys have a burning desire to f*** and battle!
“But we have evolved and are civilized now”
I realize this, and think it’s a good idea to enforce limits and restriction on people and society to maintain order. So, I am happy that there is an age limit on sex, to stop younger girls being taken advantage of, and I am happy there are laws that stop sexual abuse to any age of women.
When it comes to consensual real life porn, I don’t have a problem with it- if girls know what they’re doing and choose to degrade themselves for money (and there are loads that do), that’s up to them and I’m happy to then watch them! They don’t supply the demand- I watch it ‘cos it’s there and I like if, if it wasn’t there, I’d be a bit gutted, but I would respect the fact that girls don’t want to degrade themselves and I can live without it! But I’m not too far up my own a$$ to think ‘it’s wrong’ or I am bad for liking it.
When it comes to manga or hentai, it’s not real, so it’s not hurting or degrading anyone for a start. If there is a demand for it, then that’s fine to supply that demand since fictional characters can’t get hurt. I don’t think it’s wrong to illustrate girls as sexual object for men. It’s fantasy, it’s fun, it allows artist and reader to collaborate in a safe environment, fulfilling any human urges, without upsetting anyone- as I say, it’s a good thing, opposed to the alternative. If you don’t like it, don’t read it! And you have NO RIGHT to have a go at the artist or reader who are happy being involved with each other through the artwork, without hurting anyone and without the intention to disturb anyone.
Unfortunately, the images will have the unintended side effect of catching the attention of people who don’t like it and feel that just because they don’t like it, it’s bad. And it’s unfair on the artist or reader when these people feel it’s their duty to put them down and make them feel bad.
- It’s the negative, opinionated outsider that causes the trouble- not the artist, images or readers!!!
It’s a shame that these stubborn outsiders cannot be educated. You can’t convince them that a pic of a big tit manga girl doesn’t degrade girls, or make guys expect girls to be like that, or put girls under pressure to look like that. I can’t deny that in some cases, this kinda art will have this side effect. BUT it is ignorant to believe that just cos people see images, they will always model themselves on them. Just like it is ignorant to think people will become murderers for watching a gangster films.
I am happy that these days people generally are becoming more accepting of other cultures, beliefs, and opinions and most people don’t think their son will become a killer for playing Grand Theft Auto or their daughter will become a whore for watching a Demi Moore movie! Most people aren’t stupid and know fact from fiction and in an age of TV, Cinema, Games, people are more aware of this than ever.
But I’m am still annoyed, frustrated and surprised how negatively opinionated some people can be towards manga and hentai.
For me, it’s something that just has to be accepted I suppose. I KNOW manga and hentai isn’t BAD for me and doesn’t make me into a bad person. It’s my interest, I like it, it makes me happy and if people that have a problem with it, can’t either be educated or ignore it, then I’ve only got one thing to say to them:
**** YOU!
Bad Ass Anime Girls
I wanted to point out my top three anime Bad-Ass babes! To name but a few sexy favs:
3. Alita from Battle Angel Alita / Gunnm.
2. Revy from Black Lagoon.
1. Motoko from Ghost in the Shell.
The artwork in all three said mangas are great, although the stories featuring these characters aren’t necessarily so hot in their respective animes. These girls are cool! But I guess it can be hard for a lot of viewers to feel as much connection between themselves and these kind of head-strong, confident, ‘uncaring’ anti-hero type gals. Sure, they’re sexy and confident- they’ve got the whole ‘Girl power’ thing going on, and are adequate eye candy for most male readers, but I can sometimes find them a bit too arrogant and off putting for me to like them any more than on a superficial basis!
Drawing Sexy Artwork
After being a lover of art, artwork, drawings and paintings in general, there's one thing I've noticed about the artists that end up doing really well in this field. It's not natural talent, practice, incentives (money) or anything else, but passion. I guess it's the same with anything- if there's something your really love doing, you'll do well at it. I know people that like drawing, and people that get paid hundreds or thousands of dollars to draw, but they're unsatisfied with what they do- they lack passion and therefore fail to progress as far as many others.
Some people might think a pin-up artists or hentai creator is a poor excuse for an artist, but often the work these guys produce is amazing. I believe it's because they fuse a passion for art and drawing wit their love the opposite sex which combines to create something many people can't resist to appreciate. The only reason why babe art in genreal might not get the kudos it deserves is probably due to people with supposed 'high moral standards'- they think it's degrading to portray women in a sexy, sexual way.
To people like that, I say fair enough, have your own opinion, but dont start thinking your better than these artists that put a lot of effort, energy and passion into a sexy piece of artwork that many other people are more than happy to appreciate.
Manga Girls Pick of the Day #3
Thought I’d add a few of my favoured pics representing the pinked haired anime girl variety! Anime girls hair, and eyes come in a multitude of colours and tones, and I’m sure different hair colours represent a different type of personality- this isn’t a rule set in stone, but to use obvious example, I've noticed a girl with purple hair and red eyes will usually be used for a villainous, head-strong woman, while pink hair and blue eyes be used to show a more friendly innocent character. For some reason I have a personal preference towards to pink haired girls :D
Mini Book Review of "Sexy Gals"
Let's Draw Manga: Sexy Gals by Heisuke Shimohara
I’ve had this for a while and thought I’d give it a review since if on the same subject as the site :)
It’s a nice little book containing some decent black and what line art which serves as a great reference tool. The layout is fairly straight forward and there’s plenty of images to take note from.
I get the feeling it’s marketed towards a male teenage audience , BUT, it’s definitely a book for older readers more familiar with. To be honest, I dunno how tthe USA market can get away with publishing some of the artwork in the book, since it’s pretty erotic stuff! Dont get me wrong- I’m all for a bit of hentai every now and then and although I’m sure mange Japanese readers (due to the Japanese culture) wouldn’t have a problem with it, I would have thought most parents who buy their kids this book will probably regret it once they inspect the content
On a personal level, I’ve have no problems with the content whatsoever, but it really shoulda been called "how to draw sex scenes" rather than "Let’s draw Sexy Gals". I’ve heard of far, far tamer manga books get taken off of the shelves in American schools and libraries just for it containing the typical big busted anime chick, so I wonder how well this one is going down with the parents?
Overall, it’s an ok book and I’d give it 2.5 outta 5. Probably not worth more than 5- 10 bucks though, in my opinion.
The Sexy Gals of Masamune Shirow
A few samples from Shirow- one of the greatest Japanese manga babe artists:
Ghost in the Shell Manga
Source Wikipedia:
"Masamune Shirow (士郎 正宗, Shirō Masamune?) is an internationally renowned manga artist, born Masanori Ota (太田 まさのり Ōta Masanori)[citation needed] on November 23, 1961.
Masamune Shirow is a pen name, based on a famous swordsmith, Masamune. He is best known for the manga Ghost in the Shell, which has since been turned into three anime movies, two anime TV series and several video games. Shirow is also popular for creating erotic art."
Big Boob Babe Games
One of the reasons I love Japan so much is the fact they just dont make games like this in the west.
Youtube member "evilmajikman" gave it the following review:
"This game is actually ok. You have 4 girls to choose from. Although the gameplay is a little too easy. It feels more like a interactive manga. You barely ever have to make choices, all in all you probably have about a good 10 choices to make in the game. Although it's not bad. My favorite girl in the game is Cocoa, because she has a lot of history with he main character, and is in a bad relationship with her husband, I give the game a strong 3.5/5 If it had more girls and endings it would be 5/5"
So if you can get hold of this game, it might be worth playing? If anyone knows of any better games out there, let me know ^_^
